By Appointment  Only - text 734-646-6633

Elsie Earl Studios is a community art center located in Frohne Hall next door to St. John's UCC Church.  It was opened in Spring of 2017 by Loretta Friend.  It is named for her parents, Elsie and Earl, who were always very supportive of her artistic endeavors.  Elsie was a systems analyst for the Treasury Department in Washington, D.C. and enjoyed ballroom dancing.  Earl was a professional musician with the U.S. Navy Band.  He played the French Horn, helped form the Sea Chanters and directed them for a year, played in local dance bands, and taught guitar.

The center offers a fine art gallery, adult and youth classes, studio memberships and Genius Nights with The Hairy Buffalos Improv Troupe.

Showing in the gallery are works by 15 local, regional, and national painters, color pencil and graphite artists, and photographers.  There are four personal artist studio spaces for rent by resident artists.

Activities for children range from 3D Painting (plaster sculptures), art scavenger hunts with prizes, and a puppet theater.

Classes are available in pottery, drawing, painting, calligraphy, yoga, Essentrics, ballroom dance,  and improv.

3D Painting and Canvas Parties are great for Birthdays , Girl's' Night Out, Family Time, Bachelorettes, etc.
